i-Lit Paralegals provide teams of paralegals to complete document review projects in a cost effective and efficient manner. The unit based charging model adopted by i‐Lit Paralegals allows law firms and their clients to transform the document review process from an elastic cost element of the litigation process to a fixed cost whilst at the same time transferring risks associated with document review from the firm to i‐Lit Paralegals. Of course i‐Lit Paralegals is extremely concerned to mitigate the risks associated with the process and achieves this by close project management, building in a full quality control procedure into the unit cost (every document is reviewed twice) and by utilising intelligent searching techniques to stream the documents to appropriate reviewers, ensuring an efficient and fast review process. Review projects carried out by i-Lit Paralegals typically cost half the amount of a review conducted internally.

i‐Lit Paralegal staff are recruited from law schools, by word of mouth and usual advertising techniques. Each candidate completes an online CV and creates their own i‐Lit Paralegals profile. The profiles are searchable and allow candidates to complete a “personal statement” in order to allow prospective employers to differentiate similarly qualified staff from one another. Before being put forward for interview each candidate who completes an online profile is interviewed by i‐Lit Paralegal staff and unsuitable candidates are turned away.

i‐Lit Paralegals are offered the opportunity to subject themselves to discounted third party background checking. The background checking is carried out by Check Your Staff Limited who as well as checking identity and financial status of candidates also check employment and educational references. Criminal Record checks are also available but are not carried out as part of the standard background checking procedure.

i‐Lit Paralegals staff subscribe to the highest standards whilst in the workplace and all staff are required to complete confidentiality undertakings as well as to sign a strict code of conduct. Processes and procedures are in place to ensure that sickness and absenteeism is kept to a minimum.

The service that i-Lit Paralegals offers is unique within the UK and represents a best of both worlds solution to the problems associated with document review by providing certainty of cost for end clients whilst the work is carried out within the UK (either in clients offices or at an offsite location) and under the close control of lawyers.
