7Safe brought together key representatives from magic circle law firms, commercial organisations and banks for the Audio Discovery networking event in Austin Friars, London on 12th October.

Nexidia Vice President, Jeff Schlueter flew in from the United States to present on the phonetic search technology which took the industry by storm.

Jeff demonstrated impressive capabilities of the audio searching product, showing examples of searching transcripts for key words and phrases. Attendees were highly impressed with the speed of searching thousands of hours of transcripts and the sheer user-friendliness of the software. Jeff was quizzed on the capabilities of the software with regards to recognising regional language differences, and he discussed how language packs are available for many different dialects.

Jeff and Gregory Houston (kCura) were able to show the audience the widely talked about integration between Nexidia and the popular eDiscovery review tool Relativity.

7Safe’s Senior Consultant Stuart Clarke discussed data storage of applications on the iPhone before moving on to demonstrate the security issues and forensic artefacts relating to cloud storage, with a focus on Dropbox.

Some were left stunned as Stuart explained how the acquisition of a single database file from one user’s Dropbox could allow another individual to gain full access to the content of the Dropbox not belonging to them, including deleted files, even allowing access to the Dropbox web portal without knowing the username and password credentials.

If you would like to find out more about the services discussed above, or hear about future eDiscovery events, please contact: events@7safe.com

The growth of electronic communications technology and resulting discoverable audio content is having a huge impact on the eDiscovery market, as searching recorded audio and video files is becoming increasingly important.

And ongoing advancements in intelligent indexing & search software has meant that both costs and time associated with this once laborious process have been dramatically reduced.

London eDiscovery firm 7Safe’s partnership with Nexidia, a market-leading Atlanta based provider of audio and video search analytics is clear proof of this, with 2011 seeing a boom in activity among clients who are seeing the value in audio & video indexing technology. This eDiscovery consultancy service has already helped clients deliver thousands of hours of content for review in just a few days, as opposed to several weeks or months. Additionally, the phonetic technology is able to reduce the cost of reviewing audio and video content by as much as 80 percent.

“Bringing Nexidia technology into our London data centre has enabled 7Safe to deliver a new dimension and higher level of service to our clients” said Dr Jim Kent, Director of eDiscovery Services for 7Safe.

“There has been a significant increase in the use of this technology, and it is becoming widely accepted as an integral part of the eDiscovery process. This is a very exciting time for the delivery of audio discovery, and we hope to help many more clients obtain optimal results by efficiently reviewing and analysing their video content”.

7Safe CEO Alan Phillips added, “The cost saving benefits that Nexidia’s phonetic key word search technology brings is clearly a big plus regarding proportionality in legal cases. What is also amazing is the simplicity of the product itself – It can be easily understood and used by non-technical people which is a hallmark of all great software.”
